Said domain names to be allocated for .sg country code domain name.

Singapore Network Information Center, an internet registry and information service provider in Singapore, today announced that it will be allocating single letter domain names across both the second level and third level. The company avers that this means customers will be able to pick up A.sg as well as A.com.sg, A.org.sg, A.net.sg, A.edu.sg, A.gov.sg, A.per.sg.

The company states that entities interested in applying for the domain names must apply through their registrar between December 1 and January 9. The application must include a deposit of 5,000 Singapore Dollars, or about $3,300 USD. The minimum fee to acquire the domains will be 20,000 Singapore Dollars, or about $13,300 USD. It further states that if more than one entity applies for a particular domain name, the domain will be auctioned off and if any domains are not claimed they will be reserved by the registry for later release. Trademark holders have first rights, it adds.

• All .ME domain names that have received a single application will be allocated to their respective applicants.
• Domain names with multiple applications will go into auction.
